Susan Witt.  Susan Witt has served as Executive Director of the E. F. Schumacher Society since 1980, leading its national educational programs while at the same time remaining deeply committed to implementing Schumacher’s economic ideas in her home region of the Berkshires.  She is Administrator of the Community Land Trust in the Southern Berkshires, and in that capacity has been responsible for many of the innovative financing and contracting methods that the Land Trust has implemented to create more affordable housing for its members. She is founder of the newly formed BerkShares local currency program and its predecessor SHARE micro-credit program.  She is a board member of the Great Barrington Land Conservancy and an advisory board member of Public Radio Station WAMC, of the Orion Society, and of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies based in San Francisco.  She writes and speaks on the theme of building sustainable local economies.
